Machine Tool Orders Surge in May
Machine tool orders rose in May both on a monthly and year-over-year basis, AMT–The Association for Manufacturing Technology said. Orders rose 11 percent from April and were almost double that of May 2020. Orders for the first five months were more than $2 billion. There have been only three other years where orders for the January-May period exceeded $2 billion.

Boeing is paring 787 production "after finding another production-related structural defect," Reuters reported. Previously, Boeing forecast it would deliver the majority of 787 aircraft it had in inventory. Now, Reuters said, the Chicago-based company expects to deliver fewer than half of the 787 planes. Boeing did not disclose a revised 787 production rate.
